Introduction

Tanya and ScoobyMy name is Tanya Larrigan and welcome. By going through the pages on the left you will read about me and the range of work  that l do with and without my horses. You will see the variety of help we offer those who want to learn more or start learning  something different, be it riding or working from the ground, whether you are an experienced rider who wishes to brush up their technique or are a 'happy hacker' who wishes to learn abit more with their equine friend we are ready and waiting -  as long as you want to learn, then we want to assist you!
The other side of my life is the entertainment world- providing horses of all sizes for display work, photo shoots and film work. l also produce events for others such as Gala evenings and private functions plus my own Magic of the Horse, a major event!

The Larrigan family and christaMY PARENTS
Thank you for the enquiries on my parents health, both have had a difficult few years - dad had a near fatal car accident (not his fault) some ten years ago now but which robbed him of many pleasures in life - the main one being not able to ride anymore. This to someone who was riding and training horses everyday was difficult to get to grips with.

On accompanying mum to see her specialist following on from an accident she had had, it was pure chance mum mentioned his inability to sleep! That remark ended up saving his life - the wheels were set in motion for him to have some tests, these proved positive for  prostate cancer,  a silent killer in men and one that is not talked about enough.

Last year dad had a heart op and then collapsed on Christmas Day, he was airlifted to hospital and has made a good recovery but at 78 he has to pull back abit!  Mum has also has a few traumatic years ending up with a pacemaker, following a collapse on New Years Eve two years when we were visiting my uncle in hospital who had been in a coma for three weeks with a serious head injury following an accident!

What can l say  we all live on, work keeps going- though l think mum has finally realized that time stands still for nobody and one has to ease back sometime - l would dearly love her to get on and write her book - both my parents have had an amazing lifetime with animals, the people they have met and the work they have done.

Savour the momentTHANK YOU
For all your support and do keep the email's  coming it is great that so many  people take the time to get in touch.  The modern techno world does have  much to offer and it is there to be used but,at times l feel it dictates that we move to fast through our lives and in doing so forget to savour the moment.

If you do visit facebook and are a friend or just networking then you will find me there.feel free to add me. Many friends from my past have made contact from  around the world, it is great to catch up and it makes it easy to find others.

All change on the site
l previously had two separate sites running that covered my work they were  www.tanyashorses.com  and  www.larrigan-equestrian-promotions.com   l have kept the first one and it now points to this  homebase but l lost the second as someone has taken it!   .

Tanya with Suzanne Chipperfields Idolo - copyright Kevin SparrowIn the last  13 years things have changed, not only for me healthwise and my parents, but economically for the whole equestrian industry, with vet & farrier fees  going up, not forgetting animal feeds  and diesal costs -  all these things affect us.

l am so lucky to have been in the horse world all my life, though l have extended and diversified within it  by expanding my portfolio, more of which you can read about further in on the site.

The pages on the left are clearly marked with a heading that points you where you want to go, but please don't be tempted just to look at the one that might hold obvious appeal to you, as you could miss something  interesting! Like a good book you need to go through each chapter to get the overall view.

l  have two other  sites that are staying under their own banners, one is for my famous long reining miniature horse team ''The Mini Marvels®' featuring Hercules, Warrior, Goliath, Samson, Comanche, Gladiator and you will also find the Mini Marvels children's toys that l created  who are based on the real team. For more info on  then www.theminimarvels.com  is for you!

The Mini Marvels plush toys

There are lots of photos, a learning curve page and you can order the Mini Marvels plush toys that l designed, each one  based on my mighty minis and  comes in its own waterproof travel bag, has his passport  and CD!

Tanya wth Suzanne Keevils Idolo in the Magic of the HorseMy other  business site is www.themagicofthehorse.com
this site gives you all the information about my equestrian variety production that l staged for the first time in '07  with the help of my bank manager!  Starring  40 horses and ponies of different breeds,  it was called 'The Magic of the Horse®'. With music lights and action it featured 13 displays, from comedy to classical with lots in-between, from miniatures to shires and more to be seen -  it really was a show for all the family. The production was so well received that l took it back to Towerland Park Dec '08 for a Xmas spectacular and we return on April 17th 2010!  This is a side of my work that l really want to expand, l am seeking sponsors for this.

Facebook
'The Magic of the Horse®'  now has its own group page on Facebook which you can join, l have put  together an info piece about the show we did in October '07  and Dec '08 , You can see some live action from the show at youtube  just go to  http://www.youtube.com/themagicofthehorse

Below are Students on a 'New Sensations' Training Day
I am lucky that I am able to do such a variety of work with my horses. We as a family feel that by promoting how to look after, handle, train and ride horses or ponies to the best of ones ability can only serve to make it a better place for the horse.

Students at the beginning of the Mini Marvels trainingWelfare should always be to the front,  in the keeping, the travelling, the handling of all animals and in the training  and riding them.

Based on  co-operation  not domination, we want our horses to work with us  & be happy!
To this end we make no secret of how we work with and train our animals.

When checking a horse that had come in for 'help', my vet passed the comment, he has never visited us for problems caused by over training or stress injuries, l like to think that proves my point.

FOR ALL THAT IS ADVERTISED ACROSS THE WEB, IN THE BOOKS, DVD'S AND DEMONSTRATIONS
THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THERE IS NO MAGICAL WAY OF TRAINING, IT TAKES
                                                           TIME AND PATIENCE
                                                    KNOWLEDGE AND PATIENCE
                                                     CONTINUITY AND PATIENCE
                                                        RESPECT AND PATIENCE
                                                               ABOVE ALL
                                                NEVER ABUSE AN ANIMALS TRUST
                                                                   OR
GIVE IT REASON TO FEAR YOU ON THE GROUND OR THE SADDLE

It is a wise person who acknowledges their ponies or  horses limitations, as well as their own, do this and you will have a great partnership!
