Why do The United Kingdom Coaching Certificate

The UKCC is a government initiative to improve coaching skills across all sports to help our athletes in all disciplines become the best they can possibly be. The UKCC Equestrian Coaching Certificate is a qualification which essentially hones specific coaching skills within an equestrian environment. Levels 1 and 2 are being managed by the British Horse Society and the Pony Club these are generic, Level 3 is discipline specific so British Dressage Level 3 will cover coaching skills up to PSG.
BRITISH DRESSAGE UKCC LEVEL 3 COACH
Tanya is a BD UKCC L3 Coach, the course took 10 months to complete. Previous to this she went on a BSJA level two Coaching course which she achieved, this was in order to give her a better understanding of how these courses are run. Not having been to school for a very long time Tanya wanted to get her head into the way it worked and so be prepared for the level 3!
BD Level 3 Coach Educator
In order to be able to help others start on the route of coaching British Dressage put Tanya to forward to take UKCC Level 3 Coach Educators course. In turn Tanya runs courses for others who wish to move up the coaching ladder. Though they are for sporting coaches they have much to offer others outside the equestrian world, so Tanya is looking at extending the way her coaching skills can be promoted and offered to include those outside the equestrian world. Much can be learnt with skills developed for management, inter personnel skills and team building - it is a whole new world that can be entered and by bringing the horses into it as well creates a new dimension of discovery!
Part of being a Coach is that one also continues their own proffessional development (CPD) through attending seminars for sports science and attending World Class coaching conventions to keep upto speed on coaching developments, also progressing ones own skills and meet others with in coaching world across the board.

Q: What is the United Kingdom Coaching Certificate (UKCC)
A: As part of a national initiative to standardise and benchmark the quality of sports coaching in the UK, the UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) has been introduced, and will ultimately be tailored to meet the needs of all sports.
Equestrian, including dressage, is in the first set of 21 priority sports to be putting the UKCC into practice. The aim is for the UKCC to be recognised as a mark of safe, quality coaching, as well as providing a clear, structured path for personal improvement for coaches.

Tanya is a level 3 Dressage Coach - level 4 is the highest but Tanya has taken the decision not to take the last step, though this particular certificate does provide coaches with a Post Graduate Diploma (PG Dip) in Professional Practice in Sport Coaching is a more academic route than she wishes to follow.
She is also on the Kent Coaches Register and The Womens Project 500 program and is now on a mentoring course
